Curtain Installation in a Room with a Steam Radiator

Sometimes, in older homes around Philadelphia, you can still find traditional steam heating radiators. These radiators are often installed directly under windows, which helps distribute warm air throughout the room.

I actually like this type of heating. It is quiet, comfortable, and does not produce the constant airflow and noise that you often get from HVAC systems.

There is, however, one practical challenge: choosing and installing curtains so they can cover the window from ceiling to floor without interfering with the radiator.

For this installation, I mounted a ceiling curtain track with enough distance from the window to allow the curtains to hang in front of the radiator. To keep the track perfectly straight, I used a laser level.

The curtain track purchased by the customer turned out to be slightly longer than the window opening, so I also had to cut it to the proper length using an angle grinder.

This is a good example of the kind of non-standard installation work we handle at Yuri’s Services. Sometimes a simple curtain installation requires a little more planning, precision, and the right tools to make everything fit and work properly.
