I visited the Automate 2025 exhibition or I love automating everything around me

May 12, 2025

I love automating everything around me.

At home, my lights and thermostat are controlled from my phone. The temperature is measured exactly where people are, not just as an average across the house. I open the garage door with the buttons under my rearview mirror, and of course, my house responds when I talk to it.

For my clients, stair lights turn on automatically when someone steps on them. When everyone leaves and activates the alarm system, all the lights shut off, blinds close, and the climate control switches to eco mode.

My journey in automation began in the early 2000s when I became a Control Systems Engineer for AMX equipment. I designed and implemented Smart Home projects based on AMX controllers — writing code, designing user interfaces, and building complete systems.

I’ve also worked extensively with Satel Integra, which combines security alarm functionality with home automation features.
I’ve integrated smart systems with Video Surveillance, including License Plate recognition that opens gates automatically when a registered car arrives.

Beyond homes, I’ve worked on industrial automation too — developing systems and programming controllers like ICP DAS, Siemens Simatic, and others. I’m familiar with SCADA platforms and have experience deploying systems on the KNX bus.

I also enjoy programming microcontrollers — Arduino is one of my passions. Right now, I’m developing a remote monitoring and control system for things like temperature.
Let’s say you’re running a small manufacturing process that depends on maintaining steam at a precise temperature. The steam comes from a solid-fuel boiler, and after hours, there’s only one person on-site — maybe just the night watchman.
With my system, temperature readings from the boiler room are displayed on a big screen in another area, connected through the network. If the temperature drops too low, the watchman knows it’s time to add fuel — preventing a shutdown in the morning.
The system can also send data to a website, log it in a database, generate reports, and even allow remote control — like pressing a button in the U.S. to turn on a light in Europe.
It’s affordable, independent of third-party cloud platforms, and runs entirely on hardware you own and control.

This year I visited Automate 2025 in Detroit, and as you can imagine, it felt like home — this is the world I live and breathe.

The only problem is that I don’t really know anyone locally working in the same field. I’m looking for partners, clients, and projects related to automation — whether residential, commercial, or industrial.

You can find more about Automation, Smart Home Systems, and Security Alarms on the Smart Home and Security page of my web site.
