Reolink Security System – One App, Local Recording, No Subscription
April 7, 2026We chose Reolink for this project because it made it possible to build the entire system within one ecosystem. Reolink’s Home Hub Pro is designed for centralized management and local storage, and the Home Hub series is compatible with Reolink PoE cameras, plug-in Wi-Fi cameras, and the latest battery Wi-Fi cameras. Reolink also promotes one app/client for unified control, which makes everyday use much more convenient for the customer.
This approach allowed us to select the right device for each location. A wired camera is a great option where stable power and continuous coverage are important. A solar Wi-Fi camera is useful in areas where running cable would be difficult or unnecessary. The battery video doorbell adds flexibility as well, since it can work wire-free or connect to existing doorbell wiring.
One of the biggest advantages of this setup is local recording. The Reolink Home Hub Pro includes a built-in 2TB hard drive, supports storage expansion, and is specifically marketed as a local storage solution without recurring fees. That means the customer does not need to pay for a monthly subscription just to keep recordings. The video is stored locally on the hub, which also gives the homeowner more control over privacy and long-term access to footage.
Another important benefit is simplicity. Instead of dealing with multiple brands, separate apps, and different storage rules, the customer gets one system that is easier to monitor and manage from a smartphone. Live view, playback, and alerts are all available in the same Reolink app, which makes the system much more practical for everyday use.
Projects like this are a great example of how a modern security system can combine reliability, flexibility, and lower ongoing cost. With the right mix of wired and wireless devices, it is possible to cover different parts of a property while keeping everything organized in one app and one local recording system.
