Philadelphia Speed Cameras Now Issuing Fines in Five School Zones
April 22, 2026According to the PPA, fines start at $100 for driving 11 to 19 mph over the posted speed limit, increase to $125 for 20 to 29 mph over, and reach $150 for speeds 30 mph or more above the limit. City officials said the five priority school zones were selected using 2019–2023 crash data that recorded 10 fatal or serious-injury crashes and 25 pedestrian crashes across these corridors.
The camera-enforced school zones are located near John B. Stetson Middle School on E. Allegheny Avenue between A and B Streets (school address: 3200 B St., Philadelphia, PA 19134); KIPP North Philadelphia Charter School on N. 16th Street between Cumberland and Huntingdon (2539 North 16th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19132); Widener Memorial School on W. Olney Avenue between N. Broad and N. 16th (1450 West Olney Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19141); High School of the Future on W. Girard Avenue between N. 39th and N. 40th (4021 Parkside Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19104); and William L. Sayre High School on Walnut Street between S. 58th and S. 59th (5800 Walnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19139).
Philadelphia has already seen major results from automated speed enforcement on Roosevelt Boulevard, and city officials hope the new school-zone pilot will similarly reduce dangerous speeding and improve safety for students, parents, and crossing guards.
