Yes, This TV Mount Really Comes With Nails

I continue my journey through the wonderful and sometimes surprising world of TV wall mounts.
Take a close look at this photo. This is a Utilitech Indoor No-Stud Fixed TV Mount, and yes - you are seeing it correctly. The manufacturer literally includes nails and, for drywall installation, suggests attaching the wall plate with nails. In other words, somewhere in the world of home improvement, someone looked at a television and said: “You know what this needs? A hammer.”
The official manual makes the funny part even better: the hardware list includes 20 nails, and the drywall-only installation section says the wall plate should be attached with nails. It also notes that all 20 nails must be used. For wood stud or concrete installation, however, the manual uses lag bolts and anchors instead. The same manual lists support for most 30–65 inch TVs, up to 99 lb, with VESA patterns from 75x75 to 400x400 mm.
Personally, I decided not to “nail” the TV to the wall. Instead, I secured the mount properly into the wood studs inside the wall using strong, long screws. The TV is still on the wall, gravity is still disappointed, and everyone is happy.
So, would you trust a TV mount held to drywall with nails? Or would you rather call someone who has installed a few of these before and knows when to follow the manual - and when to choose a more solid solution?
