In the photo carousel below this article, you can see the step-by-step process of replacing an old thermostat with a brand-new Ecobee thermostat equipped with an additional room temperature sensor.

Together with my client, we placed the extra sensor in the bedroom so the system can measure the temperature more accurately where comfort matters most.

As a result, the heating and cooling system can maintain a more balanced and comfortable temperature throughout the home. More accurate temperature control can also help reduce unnecessary HVAC operation, which may lead to noticeable savings on heating costs in winter and cooling costs in summer.

This is a good example of how a relatively simple smart-home upgrade can improve both comfort and energy efficiency.
